Saturday, August 10, 2002. The much anticipated Theater in the Sky screening of Oklahoma! is scheduled for 8 p.m. The day brings a mix of sunshine and cloudy sky. But the weather forecast predicts rain and thunderstorms for the evening. The Theater in the Sky crew starts with the elaborate preparations for the evening non-the-less. After all: The show must go on. 6:30 p.m: Overcast sky above the theater with a few patches of blue left in the north. Dark clouds are forming in the south. 7:15 p.m.: Viewers call the hotline and report rain in Neukölln. 7:30 p.m: Rain reported in Dahlem and Wilmersdorf. Frantic calls by concerned viewers. Will we cancel? No. 8:00 p.m.: The first guests arrive. People report light rain in Mitte. 8:15 p.m.: Now even here the raindrops start to fall. Is this the end? No.Suddenly the sky seems to lighten up a bit. Yes. Only a few countable drops and the rain ceases. The party can begin. Cowboys, farmers, indians and a few saloon sluts take to their seats. Welcome to our TRF Movie Classics Theater open air movie presentation.
When the overture starts stars can be spotted in the sky. The Theater in the Sky management may finally relaxes and sips the first glass of sekt. Oh what a beautiful evening! |
